Winter update Animal Crossing: New Horizons
Do you play Animal Crossing: New Horizons on the Nintendo Switch? Then pay attention, because a new winter update is coming November 19! And while red-brown maple leaves are currently blowing off the trees in the game. There will also be snow!
What's to come?
Winter update for the Nintendo Switch
It may be getting colder outside, but we can look forward to the warm glow of the holidays in Animal Crossing: New Horizons for the Nintendo Switch. While the reddish-brown maple leaves are already blowing off the trees, islands in the northern hemisphere will also be treated to a fresh dusting of snow in the coming month.
Free Update on Nov. 19
A free winter update* for Animal Crossing: New Horizons will be released on Nov. 19. This update delivers festive events, various innovations and new opportunities for friends and family. For how much fun it is to enjoy island life together with Animal Crossing: New Horizons residents.
What's new? You can see it below:
Two special holidays
The new update adds two special holidays**, among other things. The Flavor Fest on Nov. 26. And Toys Day on December 24. This is something players can enjoy with other players.
Winter update also adds new emotions and hairstyles. Options to expand home storage and transfer stored data.***
Starting Nov. 19, players in both hemispheres can enjoy the following innovations:
Flavor Fest
At Taste Festival, which this year will be celebrated on November 26, top chef Franklin will arrive for a feast on the square. Players can help Franklin collect ingredients for the dishes presented in the square. Players who help Franklin cook receive a gift from him.
Note: This event can only take place if the service desk has already been built.
Toy Day
It's the time of year that all islanders look forward to. The month of Toy Day has almost arrived. Players will notice that the island and plaza will be increasingly decorated in festive atmosphere in the coming weeks.
Also pay close attention to decorated trees, as shaking them may cause plans for festive furniture to fall out. From Dec. 1 to Dec. 25, players can buy toys at Nook's Corner and festive clothes at the Able sisters' store. When December 24 is officially Toy Day, Jingle will honor each island with a visit to spread the holiday cheer. When players help him deliver presents, they also receive a gift themselves.
Please note that this event can only take place if the service counter has already been built.
What else is new?
In addition to these two holidays, there is more new:
New emotions and hairstyles
Players can get nine new emotes and hairstyles by redeeming Nook miles at the NookStation in the service desk.
Home storage expansion
Players who have already expanded their home to the largest size and paid off their debt can have their home storage expanded by talking to Tom Nook at the service desk. This expands storage space in the player's home to 2,400 spaces.
Random islands to visit in dreams
Players who like to travel to other islands in their dreams can now choose to visit random islands while dreaming – perfect for inspiration!
Collaboration with Animal Crossing and Pocket Camp
To celebrate the third anniversary of Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp, a Pocket Camp-themed phone will be available in Animal Crossing: New Horizons.
Transfer features for residents and islands****
There will be two new features allowing the transfer of residents and islands. The first transfer feature allows a resident's data to be transferred to another system. This includes a resident's name, appearance and tools, along with their inventory, home and stored items. The other feature lets players transfer an entire island. This feature lets players transfer all their saved data, including the island and all its inhabitants to another system.
This service is made possible by the free Island Transfer software in Nintendo eShop.
And for the latest news
From December 1, new seasonal items will appear at Nooks Corner. Between Dec. 26 and 31, other festive items will appear to celebrate New Year's Eve with. An event counting down to the new year will begin on December 31 at 7 p.m. local time.
Players can participate in this event with islanders as well as in-game friends and family.
But we will continue
After this winter update, the next update will appear at the end of January. Again, of course, you can read about that here!
Animal Crossing as a fun game
The Nintendo Switch is for the boys, but every night, when they're watching The Clockhouse, I'll take a half-hour to play Animal Crossing: New Horizons. I find this so wonderfully relaxing, nothing else on my mind but my island and doing ‘nothing’ for a while. I'm happy again with this winter update because this way they make sure the game goes all the way with the seasons as well.
If you don't have a Nintendo Switch yet, my advice is, put it on your wish list!
